The Canadian Neuro-Oncology Conference is run by the Canadian Brain Tumour Consortium, of which Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is a member. Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada provides sponsorship at each Biennial Neuro-Oncology Conference in honour of Dr. Rolando Del Maestro, neurosurgeon, researcher, and co-founder of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
In 2012, Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada again sponsored the Canadian Neuro-Oncology Meeting which took place February 9-12th in Vancouver, BC. Approximately 150 neuroscience professionals gathered to hear about the latest research being conducted as well as current and future trends in the brain tumour community. Session focuses were around particular brain tumour types, treatments, pediatrics and quality of life of those affected. In 2008, our sponsorship supported Dr. John Sampson, Associate Professor of Surgery, Associate Professor of Pathology, Associate Deputy Director, The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Centre at Duke University, giving the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Lectureship.
In 2006, our sponsorship supported one of the the keynote speakers at the conference taking place in Winnipeg, Manitoba from May 26-28, 2006.The sponsored speaker, Dr. Arie Perry, a Neuropathologist at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, will be discussing his research in the area of genetics and molecular biology of meningiomas.
