The brain tumour community is a vast connection of organizations, health care institutions, patients, families and initiatives. In Canada, there are opportunities for advocacy leadership through the Canadian Alliance of Brain Tumour Organizations (CABTO) of which Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is a member.
CABTO is an alliance of volunteer organizations, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of brain tumour patients and families. Their mission is to:
CABTO is a member of a number of organizations working to improve quality-of-life and patient experience for those Canadians affected by a brain tumour. This includes the recently formed Neurological Health Charities Canada and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.
Additionally, there are advocacy efforts taking place around the world and these are networked through the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA). The IBTA coordinates the International Brain Tumour Awareness Week. In 2011, this awareness effort wil take place from October 30 to November 5.
