Personal stories of hope and support from communities across Canada help to raise awareness about brain tumours and the search for a cause and cure. In 2011, there are stories told in each city where there is a Spring Sprint. Watch this space for new stories being added all the time.

June 15, 2011: Record-breaking Funds Raised for Brain Tumour Patients across Canada
An outstanding 5,800 brain tumour patients and their supporters from across Canada have come together and raised a record-breaking $1.5 million for critical brain tumour research and patient programs during the recent Spring Sprint fundraising program
May 30, 2011: Montreal Spring Sprint: Memory of Much Loved Aunt Motivates Brain Tumour Researcher
Dr. Tommy Alain, Ph.D. is a Post Doctoral Researcher at McGill brain tumour researcher is doubly motivated to be successful because he lost his Aunt Gaétne Roy to a brain tumour. On June 4, Dr. Alain is taking this support to Parc Angrignon for the June 4 Spring Sprint for brain tumour research and patient support.

Il y a maintenant un an que le Dr Tommy Alain, Ph. D., chercheur postdoctoral au Centre de recherche sur le cancer à l’Université McGill, poursuit ses recherches sur l’utilisation de virus afin d'éliminer les cellules cancéreuses au cerveau. Les motifs scientifiques du Dr Alain sont renforcés par le fait que sa tante, Gaétane Roy, est décédée des suites d’une tumeur cérébrale. 
 
May 23, 2011: Winnipeg Spring Sprint: Athlete Overcomes Brain Tumour and Dedicates Time to Finding a Cure
Scott Chudley is a busy guy. The life-long Winnipegger and one time golf pro is now an Education Assistant, as well as a student studying to be a teacher. He is also a determined athlete and coordinator for the upcoming Spring Sprint for Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. Scott has good reason for adding this to his all-ready full plate – he is one of the 55,000 Canadians affected by a brain tumour.
 
23 mai 2011: Sprint du printemps d'Ottawa: La jeune Ontarienne Mireille Renaud, étudiante en droit le jour et bénévole le soir, est déterminée à se servir de la douleur pour atteindre un objectif. Faisant partie du grand ensemble de Canadiens ayant un proche atteint d’une tumeur cérébrale, Mireille se trouve maintenant à établir des liens avec d’autres personnes en raison de cette maladie beaucoup trop répandue.  
May 23, 2011: Ottawa Spring Sprint: Young Woman Honours Father's Memory
An Ottawa law student by day and volunteer by night, Mireille Renaud is determined to turn pain into a purpose. As part of the large community of Canadians with a loved one touched by a brain tumour, Mireille now finds herself building connections with others because of this all-too common disease.
May 19, 2011: Vancouver Spring Sprint: Pediatric Brain Tumour Inspires Chilliwack Family to Help Others
As the parents of twin boys Quinlan and Conner, Jacqueline and Peter Huff were used to bumps and bruises and a life full of baseball and soccer. But the year the boys were seven, the typical childhood doctor’s visits took a dramatically different turn.  
May 19, 2011: Lloydminster Spring Sprint: Survivor Committed to Hope for the Future 
In less than one year, Veronica Bailey has travelled a wild emotional and physical journey that has taken her from comfortable retiree to brain tumour survivor and research fundraiser. Today, this journey has brought Veronica to a place of comfort and hope as she plans to participate in the annual Lloydminster Spring Sprint on Sunday, May 29 at Bud Miller Park.
May 19, 2011: Victoria Spring Sprint: Dedicated Volunteers Support Victoria Area Brain Tumour Patients
Brain tumour patients, survivors, their family and friends are coming together on Saturday, May28 for the annual Spring Sprint. The event is run by a dedicated group of local volunteers determined to improve the lives of those affected by a brain tumour.
 
May 19, 2011: Fredericton Spring Sprint: Fredericton Brain Tumour Survivors Support the Community
The Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre hosts this day of courage and hope where participants will gather to celebrate life and each other in an effort to raise funds for brain tumour research and programs for patients.

May 17, 2011: Calgary Spring Sprint: Medical Miracle Raising Funds for Brain Tumour Research
At just 28, Aaron Ramler has already been through a lifetime of hospital visits, tests and treatments and today he is a brain tumour survivor that doctors call a medical miracle. A photographer and apprentice electrician, Aaron was diagnosed with an advanced brain tumour in 2007.

May 9, 2011: Halifax Spring Sprint: Young Hockey Player Inspires Community to Support Brain Tumour Research
By all accounts, Cole Harbour resident Michael Rumsby is a typical thirteen year-old boy who loves playing soccer and hockey. So, in the fall of 2010, Michael and his family were shocked by his diagnosis of a malignant Non-Germinoma germ cell tumour of the pineal gland. While the brain tumour has temporarily slowed Michael down, it hasn’t stopped him.
May 9, 2011: Saskatoon Spring Sprint: Young Survivor & Family Raising Funds for Brain Tumour Research and Support
The middle child of Kirk and Kristen Friggstad, Kolbjorn (Kol) is eight-years old and is the only boy in the family of five children. Busy with piano, voice lessons, and home schooling, this Outlook, Saskatchewan family was unprepared for sudden change to their life when Kol was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Now, one year later, the entire Friggstad family is gearing up for the Saskatoon Spring Sprint to raise funds and awareness for Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

When Erin Voss celebrates her 24th birthday in May, she will be a very different person than she was on the same date last year. In the summer of 2010, the health care aide began experiencing a variety of troubling but unexplained symptoms which led to the diagnosis of a brain tumour.
