Spring Sprint is a national walk-a-thon that happens across Canada in 20 cities and eight provinces raising funds for support, education, information and research for every Canadian affected by a brain tumour.
You can participate in the Virtual Spring Sprint with people from across Canada.
Registration for events begins in December 2011 and event locations and dates are found under the Sprint Locations page. The Spring Sprint events begin April 21 in London, Ontario and run until June 10, the final day of events. Select your city to learn more and to get involved!
There is no fee to register or participate in the Spring Sprint program. However we do encourage everybody to pre-register online before the event. This lets us plan to have enough t-shirts and food for everyone attending. It also means you save time at the park on the day of the Spring Sprint. Pre-registration also helps to keep administration costs down so more money can go directly to programs and services that provide hope and support for Canadians affected by a brain tumour.
Funds received from Spring Sprint directly support brain tumour patients in your local community. Information and education materials are available for free in every community through local cancer clinics, hospitals or by contacting Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. Local care is improved through support for health care professionals. A network of adult support groups help patients and caregivers connect with others on the journey with a brain tumour while support for families facing a pediatric brain tumour is also offered. Finally, research projects in centres of excellence across Canada are funded annually. Spring Sprint's fundraising success represents hope and support to all brain tumour patients, but especially to those in your community.
No! You can walk, run or sprint. Most Spring Sprint events offer a 2.5km and a 5km route – you decide how far and how fast you want to go. Events are not competitive or chip timed.
When you register online you will be asked your t-shirt size – each participant who pre-registers will receive a white Spring Sprint t-shirt upon check in at the event. If you decide to register on the day of the event we will have extra t-shirts on hand, but cannot guarantee your size.
If you would rather not have a t-shirt, you have the option to say No Thanks during registration.
The blue shirts are reserved for brain tumour survivors. We are proud of their courage, and welcome all the people who come out to celebrate life and pay tribute to these amazing people. Every survivor has an amazing story that deserves to be heard.
Each of our many fabulous volunteers proudly wears an orange shirt. If you have any questions or requests on the day of the event, just look for someone in an orange shirt, and they will be happy to assist you.
If your team is making their own Team t-shirts, we respectfully ask that you do not use the Blue or Orange to avoid confusion with these two groups.
No. Due to the number of walkers, strollers and wheelchairs on the route, we ask that you not bring your rollerblades or bicycles.
Most parks allow dogs as long as they are leashed and the owner is prepared to clean up after them and keep them under control. If a location does not allow dogs it will be noted on the city's webpage with other details about the event.
