SUPPORT SERVICES
Support Group Facilitator (national)
The Support Group Facilitator directs the process of the meetings, helps the group discuss an issue, make a decision, or solve a problem. The Facilitator also selects appropriate topics for discussion and/or arranges for a guest speaker and may provide assistance to group members looking for community resources.
Support Group Convenor (national)
The Support Group Convenor will call group members monthly to remind them of upcoming meetings, provide Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada with updated membership listings, ensure meeting room is set up and refreshments are made available.
BrainWAVE Committee Member (London, Vancouver)
Volunteers coordinate and are responsible for all details of each BrainWAVE event. They are required to ensure that location, budget, sponsorship, food and beverage, promotions of event and registration are in place with assistance from staff of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
INFORMATION SERVICES
Resource Volunteer
Resource volunteers will work with our Health Information Specialist to ensure that Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada resources are readily available and in stock for patients in their local cancer centres, hospitals, doctor’s offices, libraries etc.
EDUCATION SERVICES
Information Day Volunteer (London, Calgary, Halifax)
Volunteer roles will vary upon position assigned. Areas of involvement could include set up and take down, registration, greeting guests and speakers, selling merchandise, organizing resource fairs, organizing the hats display, and various other opportunities at the conferences.
Education Session Volunteer (Locations vary)
Volunteer roles will vary upon position assigned. Areas of involvement could include set up and take down, registration, greeting guests and speakers, organizing resource fairs, organizing the hats display, and various other opportunities at the session.
COMMUNICATIONS & AWARENESS
Hats Tribute Volunteer (London only)
Volunteer will be responsible for the organization and maintenance of our Hats Tribute. This could involve some photography, cataloguing, laminating and online posting.
Awareness Display Volunteer
Awareness display volunteers will seek out and identify opportunities to display Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada materials in their local communities. Volunteers will set up and staff displays as required.
Volunteer Writer (as required)
Volunteers will work with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Communications Department to write articles on a variety of topics ranging from patient stories to volunteer profiles. Volunteers should have some writing experience.
FUNDRAISING & SPECIAL EVENTS
Spring Sprint Coordinator (national)
Volunteers will recruit committee volunteers, work with committee to oversee location and site logistics, entertainment, budget, banking, sponsorship, distribution of promotional materials, publicity, promotion, food & beverages, registration and volunteer training.
Spring Sprint Committee Member (national)
To assist the Coordinator plan, organize and implement a Spring Sprint walk-a-thon event in a specified city or region. Responsibilities include working with the local Coordinator, attend regular committee meetings, secure local sponsorship, manage day-of-event activities, follow up with local sponsors and volunteers after event, and communicate specific details with local Coordinator
Spring Sprint Day of Volunteer (national)
Volunteers will assist the Spring Sprint Coordinator and committee members with day of tasks. Responsibilities could include registration, route marshalling, assisting with silent auctions and food service.
