Allister J. Barteski:
Eternal Rest Grant Unto him. O Lord & Let Perpetual Light Shine upon him. September 10, 1966 - March 6, 2002.

Riley Bierer was 6 years, 8 months old when he was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma. After a very lengthy surgery to remove the brain tumour, Riley had to relearn how to do everything all over again. Riley is now 9 years old and he is doing remarkably well. Everyday Riley continues to inspire the people around him with his strength and determination. Riley is our hero!

Jon Bishop
Jon was an active, fun-loving, independent-spirited man. He loved to wear a white ball cap. His disease started by robbing him of his vision and eventually took much of his independence. However, it NEVER robbed him of his positive attitude, his willingness to look outward and upward, or his ability to give and receive love. One of his desires was to be able to help others and to raise awareness about brain tumours. We are grateful to have had him in our lives and he will remain forever in our hearts.

David Samuel Bloom, you loved life.
Even after you were diagnosed, you continued to astound others with your unwillingness to give up. You were an incredible performer before you became ill and you performed your best role as someone who wasn't. A part of us died on that inexplicable evening. Words cannot describe the thoughts and feelings that passed through us as we held you hands and let you go. You left behind a legacy, a persona, and your dynamic personality inspired family and friends in Brampton to organize the David Bloom Memorial Spring Sprint. We will never forget your want and need to help others. Others will survive because of you. "Think of him as living in the hearts of those he touches... For nothing loved is ever lost. And he was loved so much."

Linda Brecht
I was having dinner at the Swiss Chalet on November 1, 2002. The next thing I know I had a nurse taking blood from my arm. After having a blackout seizure, my first and only one, I was rushed to the University Hospital for a CT scan. A brain tumour the size of my first was discovered. It was determined inoperable, fast growing and life threatening. Dr. Macdonald and Dr. Bauman prepared me for radiation on December 23, I received 90 shots of radiation which I understand is my lifetime quota. Wow did that change my life! I was so weak. I couldnħt life a bag of milk from the fridge and I was tired all the time. I used to work out 5-6 times a week, taught fitness classes at the University of Waterloo and was gainfully employed in the Athletic department. I never smoked, took drugs, and only drank moderately. I will always ask "why me." Today, I paint, read, walk an hour or so a day and work on my computer. All this helps me improve my hand eye coordination and concentration. I would not have gotten through this if it wasnħt for all the support of my spouse, family, friends, Brain Tumour Support Group and a personal desire to live and love life!

This is Normand Breton
3 years ago, before he got sick. He loved projects! This is a picture of him working on the veranda for our house. Strong, agile, capable, curious and loving life. A beautiful and happy man. I wish for a cure for brain tumours so no one has to go through what Normand did.

Cathleen Bridge loved the beach and sunshine. The last time we were together at a beach was on Lake Huron in 1999. Our children were young then and our parents and Nana were visiting from Sault Ste. Marie. It was a big blue sky day! The water was crisp and clear. I can still picture the scene in my mind. She usually wore a hat like this one at the beach. We lost Cathy in the fall of 2002, after a one year battle with a brain tumour. I miss her daily but enjoy memories like the beach day. Cathy wore yellow and orange and a hat. I wish I had more pictures of her from that day. You never know when you will run short of photos of your loved ones. In memory of Cathy, submitted lovingly by her sister Karen.

Calum Ferguson Bruce
His smile was always there as he dealt with his long life health issues from a progressive seizure disorder to the diagnosis of a left parietal astrocytoma. Radiation and chemo followed. Calum swam competitively with his high school team. After he graduated from college, he worked full-time in the IT field. Two years hand running, he received perfect attendance recognition from his employer.

Diane Brûlé brain tumour survivor. "Wanting to help others." Sturgeon Falls, Ontario.
