David Neal is now a 6-year survivor of a GBM. Since his initial diagnosis, treatment and surgery, David has had no recurrence and continues to live an active life as a stay-at-home dad.

Linda Nichol
This hat represents 2 people 25 years ago. The brain tumour has come such a long way in this time. The first person did not make it but she was in her early sixties. The second person was young with 2 small children and husband. She fought hard but she did not make it. The third person was me. 36 years of age and I made it. Life is so unfair.

Glen Marshall Nicoll,  August 16, 1955 µ June 29, 2009

Although he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Multifocal in late August 2008, Glen did not allow his final illness to either confine him or define him. Right up until the last few days of his life, he continued to do the things that made him who he was: visit auction markets, report the livestock prices in his ³Manitoba Roundup´ column in the Manitoba Co-operator, cook, check out all kinds of information on the internet, take photos, and stay connected with his family and friends.

This ³prairie boy´ once said that his family was the most important thing in life, but he also clearly loved the byways of rural Manitoba, and raising grass-fed beef.  Glen was an original µ someone who marched to the beat of his own drum, and one who (both literally, and figuratively) took ³the road less traveled´ in life.  His photos convey the beauty he found in rural living, and we hope that the funds raised through sales of his 2009 and 2010 wall calendars will help Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada fund research that leads to a cure for this devastating illness.

His family is contributing this Manitoba Co-operator cap he wore at work µ in memory of this kind, loyal and witty man: our son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, stepfather, grandfather, neighbour, volunteer firefighter and friend.

Kelly Marie Northey
May 24, 1973 µ January 30, 1981
Kelly±s legacy is the Brain Research Fund, which became Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. One beautiful, brave, little girl±s tumour is responsible for the hope now shared by thousands of brain tumour patients around the world.
