Christopher George Taylor
An avid cyclist and downhill skier, my husband Chris delighted in hoping on his bicycle and cycling hundreds of kilometers each season. Once the snow fell, he strapped on his skis and hit the slopes. After Chris was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme in late December 1996, he was unable to ski or cycle. As his disease progressed, even walking became increasingly difficult. But grit and resolve prevailed and several months before his death, he managed to get on his beloved bike once again and cycle a few blocks. It wasn't easy for him, but his sheer determination brought success and satisfaction. Chris spent many happy hours wearing this helmet.

Tobin
Tobin, now seven, has endured four operations, 20 cycles of chemotherapy, 33 radiation treatments, and 19 MRIs. Throughout the ordeal, he has remained a cheerful little boy whose smile touches everyone he meets. Once his treatment is complete, Tobin will celebrate with an "End of Treatment" party with his friends and family at his side.

In January 2004, Tom Tucker, a successful private equity banker, was diagnosed with brain cancer while living in Australia. That year, Tom and his wife Kim focused their energy and thoughts on how to help other people living with the disease. Tom and his family face the challenges ahead with optimism--learning everything they can about the illness. The Tucker family commit themselves to making a difference in the lives of others; sharing a better understanding of what others go through when they hear that they are facing a similar crisis. Together they are facing the battle with brain cancer with fierce determination.

My name is Jim Vanderhook. I was a 36 year-old dentist with a 2 year-old son and another child on the way when I was diagnosed in November 2000 with a glioblastoma multiforme and given 6 weeks to live. My dreams were simple: I wanted to live to see our daughter born, then see our son go to kindergarten. In 2006, our daughter will start kindergarten and I look forward to taking her to her first day of school. November 2005 will be 5 years since my diagnosis. This hat display honours the many people who have been afflicted by this disease. Each hat has a story to tell of the hopes and dreams of the people who wore them. Many are no longer here to tell the stories themselves, but they are not forgotten.

Tony Venditti June 30, 1960 - May 31, 2000.Tony was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme in September 1999.  After an eight month battle, Tony lost his fight on May 31, 2000 at the age of 39 and was welcomed into the arms of the Angels.  Tony was full of LIFE!  He was the proud and loving "Papa" of two beautiful children, Natasha and Jonathan.  He brought energy and light every where he went. When he was first diagnosed he said that when each of us are born our candle is lit. For some their candles will burn for many, many years but for him his candle was only meant to burn for 39 years. Tony (Papa) - your candle will burn brightly forever in our hearts!! We love you and miss you - Natasha, Jonathan, Judy, Matt and the Leszczak Family xo.

Cole Waker
Cole is a happy and talkative five year-old. He attends senior kindergarten and is a wonderful big brother to his two younger sisters. In the summer of 2002, Cole appeared uncoordinated when walking and slow in his gross motor development. In February, he underwent his first MRI. The tumour was discovered and measured 3 x 3.5 cm. He underwent 30 radiation treatments in April and May of 2003. As a result of his radiation, he has damage to his right eye, a limp on his left side and wears a brace on his left leg. Cole±s tumour shrank by 75% and has been stable since May 2003. The odds of surviving this type of tumour are slim, but we have faith that God will grant us a miracle. Please say a prayer for us and all those who have been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Troy White (February 12, 1968 µ May 30, 2009)

Always an easy-going, energetic and full of life man, it did not go unnoticed in 2007 when my husband Troy began experiencing headaches on a daily basis. The right hand tremors which started next were also quickly noticed. Troy was diagnosed in late 2007 with a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. To complicate matters, Troy also suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke after a brain biopsy leaving him without the use of the right side of his body and unable to speak. Troy fought with amazing strength and courage and in a matter of months, his tumour was stable and he was walking and talking again. He worked everyday towards taking control of his life back. But in March, 2009, just as we were planning the next steps to moving forward, Troy±s tumour became active again. An MRI revealed a very aggressive tumour and severe swelling on the brain. Troy lost his fight on May 30, 2009, but will live on forever through the two beautiful children we shared.

Bruce Raymond Wood (1970 µ 2002)

Bruce was a partner in Digitech Images, an embroidery company in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In August 2001, he had a seizure in Charlottetown, PEI and was transferred to the Moncton Hospital and was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour (Oligodendroglioma). He remained in Moncton until July 23, 2002, the date of his death. Bruce was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. Bruce was married to Monique and they were expecting their first child in November, 2001. At the time of Bruce±s death, his son Garret Bruce Wood was 8 months old. All who knew Bruce loved him. He had a pleasant personality and enjoyed meeting people, playing sports, collecting memorabilia about sports. Bruce never complained during his illness. He leaves to mourn his wife, son, mother, father, one sister, several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, as well as his extended family members and friends.
