Kelly Society Members Visit
Renowned Arthur and Sonia Labatt
Brain Tumour Research Lab in Toronto

Members of our special Kelly Society and friends recently took a trip to visit Dr. James Rutka and the Arthur and Sonia Labatt Brain Tumour Research Center in Toronto. Dr. Rutka received a Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada grant this year funded by your donations to study using nanotechnology to reach beyond the blood-brain barrier and develop better treatments for brain tumour patients.

You are welcome to visit our Kelly Society page to see pictures of the trip by clicking here.

Brain Tumour Information Days provided a day of hope and support to over 600 people at our three conferences in Halifax, London and Calgary. Although the program for 2009 is now over, you can still learn more directly from Canada's top medical professionals by viewing streamed videos and presentations. CLICK HERE for a list. Visit our micro-site at www.infodays.ca and you will be able to read the entire program of workshops and view our photo galleries using the drop-down box on the left.

Copies are accessible to you for FREE whether you are a patient, caregiver or family member. Health care professionals across the country who work in French communities are particularly welcome to order as many copies as you need to better serve those affected by a brain tumour.
Updated and new sections cover important topics such as facts about brain tumours, treatment options, community resources and returning to school.
To order your free copy of this incredible resource, please contact Janci Gorayeb, Health Information Specialist at 1-800-265-5106, ext. 233 or use our online contact form at

Research Fellowship Launched
On August 26th, 2009, a new brain tumour research fellowship is being launched to help with our vision to find the cause of and cure for brain tumours while improving the quality of life for those we serve. Thanks to William "Bill" Nash's generous bequest from his estate, the fellowship named in his honour will address the critical need for increased focus on research. For years to come, it will encourage and enable young clinicians and scientists to enter the field of brain tumour researchand will accelerate studies leading to a cure for brain tumours.
