Bell Canada: Helping Hands Open Hearts
Janice Laberge of Bell and Maryanne MacDonald, Board Member of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada
On May 28th, 2009, Bell Canada held their annual Employee Giving Event where Janice Laberge presented Maryanne MacDonald from the Board of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada with a contribution of $1,783.00. Thank you to the Bell Canada employees who raised these funds in 2008 through Bell’s Helping Hands Open Hearts. This program provides employees with the opportunity to make charitable donations via payroll deduction. Employees can select their favourite cause from a list of charities, including Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Janice Laberge, a Bell Canada employee whose teenage daughter Sarah is a brain tumour survivor presented this most recent gift. Another Bell employee, Jean Coutu, has been involved with the Helping Hands Open Hearts program and participates in honour of her friends, Marg and Dave Elgie who sadly lost their son, Michael, to a brain tumour several years ago.
Thank you, Bell Employee Group, for the over $7,000.00 donated since 2003 to benefit brain tumour patients through Helping Hands Open Heart.
If you make contributions at work, you can choose to support Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada programs too. Just check with your Human Resources department. Many companies also match employee charitable gifts of volunteer time or dollars. CLICK HERE for more information on how your company can get involved!
