Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada hosted a think tank conference attended by Canada’s top brain tumour specialists over the weekend of January 25, 2008 at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre in London, Ontario.
Prominent individuals in the fields of research, neurosurgery, oncology, social work, and social psychology spoke candidly on a range of topics with the Board of Directors and staff of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. Representing medical institutions from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, these renowned specialists convened in London to discuss the future of research and the direction patient treatment and support programs should take to benefit Canadians affected by a brain tumour.
A changing landscape of clinical trials, drug therapies, and greater focus on individualized treatment created a need for people in the field to exchange ideas and share advancements. The think tank discussions will help shape the direction for future innovation, investigation and research funding to help contribute to the overall improvement of care and support for patients.
A summary report of the proceedings is expected for public viewing by the end of March 2008. Any questions regarding the think tank can be directed to Susan Marshall, Executive Director by telephone at (519) 642-7755 ext. 22 or 1-800-265-5106 ext. 22 or by e-mail at smarshall@braintumour.ca.
