Kelly Society Members Visit
Renowned Arthur and Sonia Labatt
Brain Tumour Research Lab in Toronto
Your help is needed to advance brain tumour research. By joining our donor society of annual givers entitled the "Kelly Society", you will contribute and bear witness to ongoing research that will find a cause of and cure for brain tumours. Recently, members of our special Kelly Society and friends took a trip to visit Dr. James Rutka and the Arthur and Sonia Labatt Brain Tumour Research Center in Toronto. Dr. Rutka received a Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada grant this year to study using nanotechnology to reach beyond the blood-brain barrier and develop better treatments for brain tumour patients.
We toured the very impressive labs at the Labatt Center with Dr. Christian Smith and then met with Dr. Jim Rutka for over an hour asking him many questions and learning a great deal about progress in the exciting research programs at the Center.
Dr. Ab Guha Co-Director of the Research Center with Dr. Rutka, was in his lab during our tour and we were pleased that we could visit with him as well.
Dr. Joe Megyesi, chair of our Board, thanked our Kelly Society members for their care and commitment to bringing hope in a special way to brain tumour patients and their families.
On the bus ride to Toronto, generously provided by Perry Ferguson and Voyageur Transportation, we celebrated Richard Seewald’ s contributions to Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada thorugh his beautiful photography. Richard’s tree image hangs in our board room and is the identity for our Legacy and Tribute Giving Programs. Richard also began our tradition of a Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada calendar with his beautiful photography and generous funding for three years.
You are welcome to view our
