Please note: We recommend allowing extra travel time to ensure attendance at the Education Seminar as a result of the G8 Summit occurring in Huntsville, ON, between June 25 and 26. Because of the summit, there may be periodic traffic congestion on Highway 400 to accommodate motorcades travelling between Toronto and Huntsville.
Speaker Biographies:
Helen A. Hajgato, BAA, Registered Dietician Helen graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto in 1983 and completed a dietetic internship in 1984. She started working at Barrie's Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) in October of 1984. Most of her time is spent working in outpatient diet counseling on a variety of nutrition issues with both individuals and groups. She has been involved in different programs such as stroke nutrition education, arthritis classes, wellness initiatives for staff at RVH. Helen is currently involved in cardiac diet education – both inpatient and outpatient, and the outpatient swallowing clinic. In addition, she presents on the topic of nutrition to a variety of community groups and audiences.
Lia Kutzscher, RN(EC), BScN, MScN, CON(C), AOCNP Lia graduated from Fanshawe College in 1986 with a Diploma in nursing, and then attended the University of Western Ontario to complete a BScN in 1992, and an MScN in 1994, followed by a Nurse Practitioner Certificate from York University in 1999. Lia is currently employed as a Nurse Practitioner in the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie providing symptom support to cancer patients. She is an advocate for life-long learning and is currently pursuing the completion of a PhD in Nursing at the University of Toronto studying the effects of exercise on fatigue and quality of life in the prostate cancer patient receiving cancer treatment. Her major research interests are focused on interventions to prevent or ameliorate cancer-related fatigue.
Lia is a married, mother of two teenagers who are hopefully heading to university this September. In her spare time Lia participates competitively as an age-group triathlete throughout the summer months for fun, energy and stress relief.
