Tom's Story: Putting the Power of Research to Work

Tom's Story: Putting the Power of Research to Work

Tom spent two years battling a brain tumour until researchers tried an onco-virus to attack his cancer. Today, Tom and his wife Rita are enjoying their two beautiful girls, Grace, five and Eva now four months.

Ten years ago I was struggling with a brain tumour and then one day, I was invited to participate in a clinical trial. The trial was to determine whether an onco-virus, a virus that helps direct chemotherapy to kill cancerous brain tumour cells, would help people like me.

It did! And this miracle that came about through a research program, has meant that I have been able to be a part of the lives of the two beautiful little girls you see with me in the picture. My wife Rita and I will be giving thanks this holiday season for my recovery and for our wonderful family.

Make the holiday season extra special this year through your gift to help support the researchers who are working hard to find better treatments and the causes of brain tumours. Progress is happening quickly. Researchers have identified the need for individualized treatments for each patient. But there are still difficult challenges in finding the special treatments that will work for each of us.

We need your help to keep funds flowing so researchers can continue their critically important work. Please take a moment to make your gift now and join us in giving thanks for the research that makes living possible for brain tumour patients like me.
