2013 Grant Awardees

Four Canadian researchers have been awarded nearly $100,000  to further investigate the causes, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours. Congratulations to each of the researchers. Thank you for all of the work that you do to bring hope to everyone on the journey with a brain tumour.

Research Grant Awardees:

Dr Sabine Mai pediatric brain tumour researcher
Dr. Sabine Mai at the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology in Winnipeg, Manitoba has been awarded $25,000 for the project, "Characterization of ependymomas into favorable and non-faborable groups based on their 3D nuclear telomere profiles." Read more about the project...
Dr Aru narendran brain tumour researcherDr Aru Narendran at the University of Calgary, Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta has been awarded $25,000 for the project, "A virus to kill by: Double-deleted Vaccinia virus (VVdd) as a novel therapeutic agent for a defiant pediatric brain tumour." Dr Mark Ruschin brain tumour researcher funded by Donald JTA de JongDr. Mark Ruschin at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre in Toronto, Ontario has been awarded $18,500 for the project, "Comparison of healthy tissue sparing using different radiation delivery devices for focal irradiation of multiple brain metastases."
