Impact of receiving this award:
I am so honoured to have received the Youth Education Award. It is inspiring to know that the generous Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada donors believe in my future and in what I can achieve. With all the challenges I have experienced living with the effects of glioblastoma and its treatment, it is a weight lifted off my shoulders to be given this financial support to further my education.
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in anthropology, with the ultimate goal of earning a master’s degree in archaeology. This area of study has been a passion of mine for years. The Youth Education Award will not only help make my education possible but also enable me to pursue my passions, which give me hope and purpose. It feels amazing to be supported! Thank you for believing in my future and in my potential.
May 2026 Update
My school year has been great! I have continued my studies at the University of Manitoba for the second year, taking anthropology and history classes. This award has allowed me to focus solely on getting better and on my schooling. Thanks to this award, I didn’t have to worry about the added stress of how I would pay for school, and I was able to enjoy my time learning. I’m in great health and have received good news that I will be able to try to end my treatment this fall. I have been able to attend my classes full-time, am very passionate about my studies, and am looking forward to pursuing a master’s in anthropology. Thank you for giving me this wonderful gift!
