Impact of receiving this award:
I am so beyond thankful, grateful and proud to be a recipient of a 2025 Youth Education Award. It not only strengthens my excitement and motivation for the upcoming year, but reduces the stress tenfold, especially with both me and my twin brother headed to post-secondary this fall.
With the rarity of my diagnosis, a lot of uncertainty came flooding my way. Though I may be cleared now, that feeling of uncertainty has stuck with me over the years. But this grant is like a second wind—breathing a sense of certainty as to what I want my future to bring.
Aside from the monetary aid, this award does something more for a lot of us. It’s a reminder of what we overcame, how the darkest, scariest parts of our lives can be used as motivation to push through the hard times to come. To act as a source of positivity and strength, because we kept fighting, and will continue to for the rest of our lives.
