Impact of receiving this award:
I am so grateful to be a recipient of the 2026 Youth Education Award. This support means a lot to me as I begin my Kinesiology degree at UBC this fall. Going through brain cancer treatment and recovery in my senior years of high school was not easy. As I faced many challenges and setbacks, I harnessed my inner strength and determination to adapt, pivot, and overcome whatever difficulties came my way. As I relearned to walk after two surgeries and dealt with my own struggles during treatment and beyond, I recognized how important movement and living a healthy lifestyle are for recovery. My goal is to use my experiences with the many setbacks I faced to help others in recovery and rehabilitation.
Beyond my gratitude for the financial support, this award inspires me to pursue my academic goals with greater purpose and confidence and supports me as I work to share my knowledge and passion for fitness and health through whatever career I choose.
