Meet the 2025 Brain Tumour Walk ambassadors
Each year, the Brain Tumour Walk unites Canadians from coast to coast in a powerful display of solidarity and support for everyone affected by a brain tumour. Behind every walk is a story: one of courage, resilience and the unbreakable bonds formed through shared experience.
Today, we’re proud to introduce the 2025 Brain Tumour Walk ambassadors, seven individuals from across the country who embody the strength of our community. Each has faced the challenges of a brain tumour diagnosis either personally or through a loved one, and each now walks with purpose, to raise awareness, support others and help drive change.

Alex Djukic (Calgary)
After losing his father to glioblastoma, Alex joined the Calgary planning committee to help others facing similar journeys. He believes in the power of community and shared experience.
Alicia Grace Chenier (Sudbury & Community Walks)
Diagnosed at eight months old, Alicia is a long-time advocate and Youth Education Award recipient. She shares her story to inspire others and promote connection across Canada.
Elman Mirzaei (Ottawa)
Elman was first diagnosed in 2020, with a recurrence in 2023. Through recovery, he know now walks to prove that life after diagnosis is not only possible but also meaningful.
Janet Hempler (Edmonton)
Janet’s diagnosis in 2014 changed everything. Since 2015, she has helped organize the Edmonton Walk, honouring friends she has met and lost along this journey.
Laura Thompson (Toronto)
Diagnosed in 2019, Laura found strength in recovery and entrepreneurship. Her company, Three Ships, proudly sponsors the 2025 Walk in Toronto and Edmonton.
Paul Lytwynec (London)
Paul has raised over $26,000 since 2019 through his team, Everyday We Lyt. Now part of the London committee, he walks so no one has to face a brain tumour alone.
Camila Munoz-Gomes (Winnipeg)
Diagnosed in 2022, Camila quickly connected with BTFC’s community. As a member of the organizing committee, she’s passionate about offering support and building lasting friendships.
These seven ambassadors remind us that while brain tumours are complex and often isolating, there is power in connection and hope in every step we take together.
Whether you’re walking for yourself, a loved one or simply to support the cause, we invite you to join us in 2025. Together, we walk toward a future without brain tumours.
