There are so many ways you can help make a difference in the lives of patients and families today.
Caregivers can experience challenges when communicating with others. This could include health care providers, community organizations, or informal support from friends and family. They can be misunderstood and have difficulty getting their message across, leading to frustration and further communication breakdowns. Building skills and strategies for effective communication can ensure that both the caregiver’s and the person they care for’s needs are heard and understood. The ability to stay solution-focused during challenging times can set everyone involved up for success.

About the speaker:
Hannah Albani (she/her) is the Northern Ontario Regional Lead for the Ontario Caregiver Organization. Since the organization’s launch, she has worked closely with caregivers and community partners across the region to strengthen support systems and address the unique challenges faced by caregivers in Northern Ontario.
With over 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Hannah has held a variety of roles, including front-line worker, clinical counsellor, and college professor. She studied political science and social work, which laid the foundation for her deep commitment to advocacy and social change.
Hannah is also a caregiver herself, bringing a personal perspective to her work that informs her approach and deepens her understanding of the caregiving experience.
