Diagnosed with a Low Grade Glioma at age 14

This award from Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, generously funded by Phyllis Retty, signifies the end of my high school journey, at the beginning of which I was diagnosed with brain cancer, and a new beginning at Ontario Tech University where I will be studying Life Science.
 
This award also provides me with financial security. I currently work at McDonald’s, but with this award, I will be able to work less during university and focus more on my studies. I will devote more time to clubs and extra-curricular activities, and this will be much more manageable thanks to my scholarship.
