Your generosity fuelled growth

  October 7, 2026

Stronger event revenue and continued donor support, along with improved efficiencies, bolstered grant disbursement and made a positive impact on families across Canada.

Donations and Grants

In 2025, growth across many forms of giving to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada led to an increase in revenue. This put the Foundation in a position to increase its annual grants supporting national research, programs and services, and advocacy initiatives.

We were grateful to receive $3.09 million in gifts from donors across Canada and around the world. Many chose to support our annual Walk program, community events and annual giving programs. Others donated through their Will or recognized special occasions and their family and friends with In Tribute or In-Memoriamgifts. In 2025, the Foundation invested $2.51 million in patient services and research, representing approximately 78 per cent of total expenditures. This included:

  • $744,634 to national research grants, fellowships and studentships;
  • $29,751 to Youth Education Awards;
  • $1,735,215 to programs and services, as well as advocacy initiatives.

Research continues to serve as a major pillar for annual grants. That is due, in large part, to the success of the DUNN with Cancer event and aligned fundraising. We are grateful to the Dunn family and all the donors who engage with that event annually.

With an eye for expanding the reach of our research initiatives, we were very proud to participate in the Brain Tumour Surveillance Research Collaborative, supporting research administered by the Health Research Alliance. The Foundation has committed $50,000 USD in 2025 and 2026.

Expenses

Throughout the year, the Foundation invested time and undertook planning to improve processes to create greater internal efficiencies with an expectation for results to be realized over time.

During 2025, overall expenses increased modestly by 3.5 per cent, reflecting increased research investment and stable administrative costs.

Investment Performance

The market value of the Foundation’s endowed funds reached $651,863 at year-end, representing growth of approximately 62 per cent since 2021 and providing a growing source of long-term support for the Foundation’s mission.

Thank you for your support in 2025.
