Get Involved
There are so many ways you can help make a difference in the lives of patients and families today.
Our 2025 Winnipeg Brain Tumour Walk ambassador.
How have brain tumours impacted you?
It has been quite the roller coaster emotionally and trying to figure out my new normal. I’ve had such an incredible amount of support from my husband and family through it all, and it makes me have more gratitude and enjoy the small things in life.
How did you become involved with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada?
I was diagnosed December 2022 and heard of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada through our hospital here, Health Sciences Centre, in Winnipeg. Then after attending my first Brain Tumour Walk, a dear friend (now) reached out and asked if I wanted to get connected with other survivors in Canada! The rest is history
How and when have you participated in past Brain Tumour Walks? How will you be participating this year?
I’ve only been able to participate in one through BTFC and then last year, a group of friends and I got together to make one ourselves!
Why did you decide to join the Brain Tumour Walk organizing committee?
It’s in me to be helpful and if I can somehow inspire others in sharing my story, or just help in any way, then I’ll do it! A friend of mine asked if I was interested and I immediately said yes.
Why would you encourage others to participate in the Brain Tumour Walk?
I would encourage others to participate because of the huge community that we not only have in Winnipeg, but across Canada. There are so many resources and guidance from fellow survivors and/or their families, and you can make lasting friendships—I know I have made some pretty great friends in this community and am very fortunate to have them in my life!
