Impact of receiving this award:
I am filled with immense gratitude and wish to extend my heartfelt thank you to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada for selecting me as one of this year’s recipients of the Youth Education Award, with the help of generous funding from Go Grey London. Being diagnosed with a brain tumor completely turned my life upside down and has continued to make my life physically and mentally challenging. I soon learned to escape into my school work which provides a purpose to move forward each day while providing me with something non-medical to focus my thoughts on. I have a passion for helping people and a fascination with transportation planning and community development. I want to use those passions to help communities shape their environments to meet their needs and realize their own aspirations for the future. To accomplish this, I will be entering the GIS Urban Planning program at Mohawk College this fall. The Youth Education Award will allow me to begin my journey toward achieving my goals and help relieve some of the financial strain entering College has placed on me and my family. I will forever be grateful to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and Go Grey London for their generous financial support to make my continued education possible.
