Impact of receiving this award:
I am truly honoured to receive the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Youth Education Award. This award goes far beyond tuition assistance. It represents the encouragement, guidance, and unwavering support I have received throughout my journey, helping me turn a challenging experience into an opportunity for growth and achievement. As a brain tumour survivor, pursuing a Master’s degree in Neuroscience is deeply personal. Every lecture I attend and every hour I spend in the lab is driven by a desire to better understand the human brain’s complexities and help improve the lives of individuals facing neurological disorders. This award reinforces my commitment to a career in neuroscience research and encourages me to keep turning personal experience into meaningful scientific contribution.
This award will let me dedicate more time and energy to my education and research project, which investigates changes in cortical thickness following insular epilepsy surgery and their relationship to neuropsychological outcomes. More than anything, this support is a meaningful vote of confidence in my potential, motivating me to continue working hard, asking important questions, and contributing to research that I hope will one day have a lasting positive impact on patients and their families. I am incredibly grateful to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada for investing in my future and helping me pursue the career I have always dreamed of.
