Evan’s Legacy
First introduced to the world as the young boy who celebrated Christmas in October 2015, Evan Leversage’s story has since been shared across the globe. It was at that time that the world learned of Evan’s mom’s promise to her dying son: To help put an end to brain cancer so no other child would go through what he did.
Since then, over $50,000 has been raised in support of this extraordinary promise. “Evan’s fight wasn’t, and will not be, in vain,” says Nicole. “I don’t even know how I could possibly thank everyone who’s been part of Evan’s Legacy so far. While my heart is broken, it’s slowly being mended by the outpouring of love and support we’ve received.”
And the fight isn’t over.
With the family’s blessing, the funds raised by Evan’s Legacy were directed to research into pediatric brain cancer. This project was led by Dr. Michael Taylor and his team at SickKids (Toronto, Ont.) as they continued their ground-breaking childhood brain cancer research, originally funded through a 2014 grant with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
