Tumour Take Down unites community in support of glioblastoma research

  June 3, 2026

What began as a single idea between friends has grown into one of the region’s most heartfelt community fundraisers. On May 1, 2026, the third annual Tumour Take Down brought hundreds of people together in St. George, Ont., for a sold-out evening of live music, raffles and community spirit, all in support of glioblastoma research and those affected by the disease.

Over the past three years, the event has raised an incredible $67,000 for Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. Behind that success are organizers Leslie Hendrickson, Fiona Bell, Stacy Cornale and Trish Adams, whose passion and dedication continue to inspire friends, families, local businesses and volunteers to rally around an important cause.

Tumour Take Down was created from a deeply personal connection to glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that affects thousands of families across Canada. Over time, the fundraiser has become a gathering place for the community—an evening where people can celebrate loved ones, share memories and stand in solidarity with those facing a brain tumour diagnosis. The event’s continued growth reflects the compassion and commitment of everyone involved.

This year’s event featured performances by local band Grace,2 and a tribute to The Tragically Hip, whose late frontman, Gord Downie, helped bring greater public awareness to glioblastoma. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed live entertainment, prize draws and opportunities to learn more about the impact of brain tumours and the importance of continued investment in research.

The success of Tumour Take Down is a testament to what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose. Every ticket purchased, raffle ticket sold, donation made and volunteer hour contributed helps support critical research, patient programs and advocacy efforts for Canadians living with brain tumours.

We extend our gratitude to Leslie, Fiona, Stacy, Trish, their dedicated team of volunteers, event sponsors and every person who attended, donated or supported the fundraiser. Together, they have created something truly special—an event that raises critical funds for research while fostering hope, connection and support throughout the brain tumour community.
