A major breakthrough sheds new light on glioblastoma and points to a possible way to fight it.
Scientists at McMaster University and SickKids have uncovered a process that helps glioblastoma grow and identified an existing HIV drug that could potentially disrupt it. The findings point to a promising direction for treating one of the most devastating brain cancers.
This research was supported by Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, which has funded Dr. Sheila Singh’s lab since 2014 and supported glioblastoma research through initiatives such as the William Donald Nash Brain Tumour Research Fellowship, including support for researchers like Dr. Nicholas Mikolajewicz from the lab of Dr. Jason Moffatt.
Progress like this is built over time, through sustained research, collaboration, and the patients and families who continue to inspire the work.
