Tools and Support for Your Child’s Journey
If you are caring for a child with a brain tumour, you are carrying more than most people will ever see.
You are managing appointments, medications and questions that don’t have easy answers. You are holding fear in one hand and hope in the other. You are advocating, comforting, researching, organizing and loving, often all at once.
And you are not alone.
At Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, we offer pediatric and family resources designed to support you, your child and your whole family through every stage of this journey.
Useful Tools and Resources
Pediatric Brain Tumour Handbook
A comprehensive, easy-to-read guide for parents and caregivers. It walks you through diagnosis, symptoms, treatment options and navigating the health-care system, helping you feel informed and empowered.
A beautifully illustrated children’s book that explains the brain tumour experience in a way young minds can understand, following the story of Hope through the eyes of her friend Danny.
Created to help siblings make sense of their feelings and better understand their brother’s or sister’s diagnosis. Because brain tumours affect the whole family.
An engaging program that helps teachers and parents explain brain tumours and how the brain works, while promoting empathy, kindness and understanding.
Support for the Whole Family
BrainWAVE is a free support program for families with a child 19 years of age or younger affected by a brain tumour. It offers opportunities to connect with other families and enjoy fun activities together, from sports events to family attractions, providing much-needed moments of relief and connection.
BrainWAVE is available in Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Alberta (alternating between Calgary and Edmonton), Southwestern Ontario and Quebec (as GOcervo).
These events are planned by dedicated volunteers who understand how important it is for families to have space to breathe.
Pediatric Closed Facebook Support Group
A safe space to connect with other parents who understand the unique challenges of the pediatric brain tumour journey.
