  October 20, 2023
06:00 pm - 11:59 pm

Marauders LogoThe McMaster Marauders Men’s and Women’s soccer teams are coming together to show their support for the UVic Vikes community to raise money for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. UVic’s Former teammate and captain, Mackenzie Rigg, was diagnosed with brain cancer, Astrocytoma Grade IV (glioblastoma). After 19 months of battling this disease, Mackenzie sadly passed away in March 2022. Mackenzie’s family have set up a research grant in his name and the first two recipients were Dr. Sheila Singh, McMaster University and the University of Windsor’s Dr. Lisa Porter.

In support of his family and carrying on his legacy, the Marauders are looking to raise money in his name for brain tumour research. The Marauders will be raising funds during the men’s and women’s soccer games taking place Friday October 20, 2023 at Ron Joyce Stadium starting at 6pm.

Brain tumours change lives and devastates families. We are trying to do our part to help ease the burden of Canadians living with brain cancer.

Mackenzie RiggMackenzie was determined to fund more research to find a cure and through various Vikes Kick Cancer fundraising events and Tribute gifts honouring Mackenzie, over $185.872.18 has been raised, so far. The Vikes will be hosting a run on Sunday October 15th in an effort to raise an additional $5,000.
